How Can I Help?

Support Comes in Many Forms- Here’s How You Can Make a Difference

The Bedford Township Veterans Center is powered by the generosity of our community. Whether you’re looking to donate your time, talent, resources, or even just spread the word—we welcome your support.

Below are all the ways you can get involved and make a real impact in the lives of local Veterans and their families.

We are always in need of helping hands. Volunteers are the backbone of everything we do.

Ways you can volunteer:

  • Food Distribution Helpers: Assist with packing and distributing food and hygiene products to Veterans and their families—especially during our monthly distribution events (last Thursday of each month).
  • Event Support: Lend a hand at our 5K run, golf outings, rummage sales, or community engagement events. Tasks include setup, registration, parking assistance, cleanup, and cheering on participants.
  • Administrative Help: If you have organizational skills, we often need help answering phones, filing, and general office tasks.
  • Transportation Volunteers: Have a reliable vehicle and some free time? Help drive Veterans to VA medical appointments in Ann Arbor or Toledo (mileage reimbursement may be available).
  • Holiday Helpers: Assist with our annual Christmas gift drive—help wrap, sort, and deliver gifts to adopted Veteran families.

Local businesses and organizations can support our mission by sponsoring events, funding specific needs, or donating services. Sponsorship is a great way to give back and show your support for Bedford Township’s Veterans.

Do you have a specific skill or service you’d like to offer?

  • Are you a mechanic, plumber, or handy with home repairs?
  • Do you own a truck or trailer and can help with transport?
  • Are you a hairdresser, barber, or wellness provider who wants to donate services?

Let us know! We often encounter needs that go beyond material donations.

Have a group or workplace that wants to get involved? Organize a collection drive.

Past examples include:

  • Local schools collecting food and hygiene products
  • Churches or clubs holding donation drives for Veterans
  • Businesses placing donation bins in lobbies or break rooms

We’re happy to provide guidance and even promotional materials to help your drive succeed.

Use your creativity to support the mission.
From benefit dinners to garage sales or Facebook fundraisers—community members have helped raise awareness and funds in ways big and small. If you’d like to run your own event and contribute the proceeds, we’d love to support you however we can.

Every December, we match generous individuals, families, or groups with Veteran families in need of extra support for the holidays. You’ll receive a wish list and have the opportunity to shop, wrap, and make someone’s Christmas bright.

Spots fill up quickly—contact us in early November to sign up.
